Artist's Comments

An update on the above figure. After looking over the comments and giving Samus here a second look I reached the decision to repaint her.

You see I can get a little too happy using the technical pen. Once upon a time (four years ago) it was my prefered tool, I loved it. I used the pen to draw all the detail I couldn't mold yet :) Anyway, I have, for the betterment of me and my future figures, put the pen away for a while lol

Yesterday morning I stripped all the paint off of her. After that I went with an entirily different way of painting her. I finished Samus yesterday afternoon and will be posting her updated pictures here.

Thanks for the help :)

Good job! The only criticism I have is that the miniature looks awfully "busy" with all those black lines all over it; I wonder if the lines might look a little better in a less contrasting color, like orange on the yellow areas and red or something on the orange areas.

Also, how did your bum hand affect your painting of this piece?

That is some amazing detailing on that figure, especially for it being so small.
keep up the great work!

While I still think it's gorgeous, it seems to miss dynamic, somehow.

I agree. Samus is too busy, which is why I decided to repaint her. This time around I tried to let the details speak for themselves. Instead of forcing the technical pen on them lol

Thanks for helping me to see that. I'm far prouder of her second paint job now. I hope you'll give her another look when I post her here later:)

Oh yeah, in answer to your question, not that much. The table brace helped me out loads. It managed to hold her quite steady as I applied the paint.

great job, it really looks like samus.
but i think u should have maybe spread the legs apart more, something about the legs molded together is annoying
